Lionel Richie

Lionel Richie is an American singer-songwriter who was a founding member of the Commodores, a hugely successful 1970’s R & B group. In 1982 he released his solo debut album and his 1984 album Can’t Slow Down, featured the energetic pop hit “All Night Long”, and won Richie a Grammy for best album of the year. He performed “All Night Long” at the closing ceremony of the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. More hits soon followed, including “Hello” and “Dancing on the Ceiling.” In 1985, he co-wrote the famine relief song “We Are the World” with Michael Jackson. Richie’s later albums include Louder than Words (1996) and Coming Home (2006). More recently, he has enjoyed renewed chart success with his 2012 country album, Tuskegee.

March 2019 saw Lionel Richie as a judge on the USA TV talent show American Idol.
