Paul Simon is an American singer-songwriter. He first came to fame as part of the duo Simon & Garfunkel. They split as a duo in 1970.
Paul Simon’s first studio album after this split was self-titled and included songs like “Mother and Child Reunion” and “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard. During the 1980s, Simon became fascinated by African and Brazilian music. His interests took him to South Africa in 1985 and the resulting album Graceland brought African Music on the world stage.
Paul Simon has won umpteen Grammy Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 and in 2007, became the first recipient of the Library of Congress’s Gershwin Prize for Popular Song.
