Sting

Sting (Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner CBE (born 2 October 1951)) is an English musician, singer-songwriter, and actor. He was the principal songwriter, lead singer, and bassist for the band “The Police” from 1977 to 1984, before launching a solo career.

Sting has used all kinds of musical styles over the years: rock, jazz, reggae, classical and new-age; and has fused western music with ethnic music traditions from around the world.

As a solo musician and as a member of The Police, Sting has received 16 Grammy Awards, three Brit Awards, a Golden Globe, an Emmy and three Academy Award nominations for Best Original Song. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame in 2002 and the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame as a member of The Police in 2003. Solo and with the Police combined, he has sold over 100 million records.

In April 2020, Sting recorded a duet cover of “Message in a Bottle” with the girl group All Saints
